About the Plan

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is currently updating its plan for state parks in Wallowa County. An updated master plan is needed to guide recreational use and resource management at Minam, Wallowa Lake State Park, and the Wallowa Lake Highway Scenic Corridor over the next several decades. The last master plan for these parks was completed in 2001. (Iwetemlaykn State Historic Site has a more recently completed master plan and is not included in this plan update).
OPRD will take a comprehensive look at natural and cultural resource conditions, management needs, outdoor recreation trends, areas suitable for expanded recreational development, and other issues related to the parks. Based on these assessments, updated resource management strategies and recreation facilities will be proposed and implemented following adoption of the plan.
You can get involved by attending public meetings, submitting comments, or just following along as we update this website to show current management and development proposals.
